Weigh in

Saturday morning, and the contestants in The Shrinking Family amble slowly to the scale.

Me- DOWN 1.0
Hubby- UP 1.4 ( not doing the low carb thing and working insane hours
Son- UP 0.4 ( also not doing the low carb thing)

I cannot help but think grains in all forms are the enemy and have more to do with the health problems we face in the modern world than any other substance. Nothing scientific behind that fact, but a gut hunch.

Off to make the guys their weekly oatmeal and my eggs and bacon.

Yeah! you're down another pound. We weigh on Saturday mornings too and I was down -1.4lb but I didn't lose any last week. It's slow going off this old stubborn body.

For lunch, I just sauteed some cabbage, onion, and ground sirloin, sorta a variation on your dish. I opened a can of cream of broccoli and kept it at a sauce consistancy. I put the cabbage mixture on the plate, then the ground sirloin, then drizzled the cream of broccoli on top of the meat.

But yes, you said the canned soups were high carb, I forgot to look at the can.

I'm so glad that you lost weight this week! I think it's really smart to do what you need to do, and if that's keeping everything super low carb then keep doing it!

I hope you have a great weekend. We are heading to Sam's now! Wish me luck.

Thanks Marissa ! It seems that we each need to figure out just which method is going to work best for our bodies, for whatever reason.

Joanna- slow and steady wins the race ! When I lost 110 pounds in my 30's , it came off in 2 lb increments every week. Now that I am older and battling hormones and other things, any loss is a good loss. And your lunch sounds yummy ! if you are not counting carbs, canned soup is a great way to turn bits of this and that into a meaningful meal. Canned soup is way less carbs than pasta or rice, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Diane- Sam's on Saturday...that is kind of like marching into battle ! At least ours seems that way. It serves as the place to gather and eat samples with a dozen long lost friends. We try to do a Sam's run on Thursdays, when it is less crazy.Ours is starting to drag out all the holiday foods and samples right now, so it is a lot busier than usual.

Congrats on your loss!!! Any loss is a loss. I'm going to be checking carb rates on my soup!!!

Thanks Retta ! With carb counts in soup, the full fat versions are less than the lite ones. Reason being that when fat is removed they usually add extra starches and sugars to make up for the texture and taste. If you want to go really low carb consider using an Alfredo sauce or even cheese and cream.
