Everything is fine in moderation, even salt. Most people don't seem to understand how little they are supposed to consume a day though, and that's when it becomes a problem.

I do not tend to eat processed foods so I will occasionally add salt in my cooking because everything is as nature made it - without additives like sodium. However, when I have things like ham or salsa - things with salt added, I shut the salt shaker down for the day because there is enough salt in those items to satisfy the daily requirement for anyones health.
