Something really funny has been happening. The further away I move from eating grains, the deeper my love for meat has grown. (Sorry to those vegetarians out there). It is making for strange thoughts in my head. The other day it was chocolate covered bacon and this morning I woke up wondering if anyone ever put pork sausage in brownies. What the heck is up with a chocolate and pork combo??? I will not actually make it, but the thought keeps crossing my mind and making me laugh.
Another thought crossed my mind- Thanksgiving. We are going to my mom's on the day, but i usually cook a turkey on the day after to take advantage of the sales and have the left overs. We really love leftover turkey, and to miss out is a very sad thing. Turkey in this house does pose a slight problem, and that is the fact that I have two stuffing junkies. Eating the original turkey without stuffing for them is a form of cruelty, but stuffing for a low carb grain free diet is a problem. At least at first thought it is. However, with almond meal muffins, flax bread or the Revolution Rolls, I belive it can be possible.I am looking forward to experimenting.
Meanwhile, my son has decided that he must find a recipe or two for a dish to pass up at the gathering, and he found this adorable appetizer for a turkey shaped cheese ball that I will let him make and take. Other than the crackers, it is a low carb cute thing.

That is a really cute cheese ball turkey! I wish that I had the patience to make one of those for our family gathering next week. I'm on pie duty though. Hopefully, I'll get so sick of seeing pumpkin pie that I won't want to eat it all when the time comes. lol
Pie duty- yum ! I am also making a low carb pumpkin cheesecake to bring ( crust is crushed pecans, sugar gets swapped for Splenda). My whole family says they love pie but hate cheesecake, yet every time pies are brought no one eats them and cheesecakes get devoured. It's so weird ! Pie is one thing that I really fail at- I can't make a decent crust no matter what I do for some reason.
That really is a cute, cute turkey! How fun.
We are going to be by ourselves this Thanksgiving but I'm going to cook a simple meal, with a bit of stuffing. Only a few people actually like it and eat it!
Diane, that sounds really nice ! I don't know why, but I think my guys would eat their weight in stuffing. I was never that crazy about it myself-I am big on the bird- but you have to make everyone happy for these thing. Up at my moms they make a million sides and everyone feels compelled to bring a dish or two. In case someone forgot to bring something and therefor we might all die of starvation because there was no ( fill in the blank). It's really kind of funny when we think about it. Strangely, I was the only one in the family who had a weight problem when we were younger. Middle age is not always kind to those who never had a weight problem in their lives it seems.
