Finally breaking sweat

I think I entered a kind of endorphin bliss yesterday. The guys went off to Church and planned on stopping off for some errands on the way home, which left me the peace and quiet to do whatever I wished. I painted my toenails and then said I do not feel girly, but rather I want to sweat.

One odd fact about my body- because of some complicated hormonal issues, I do not sweat. Even when I have spent 8 hours rowing a boat, I never break a sweat. It makes it really challenging to work out to a level where my metabolism kicks into weight loss mode. It is one of the underlying factors I a working on with weight loss , and to that end I keep optimistically working hard so that some day I will indeed sweat. So I got on my bike and did 30 minutes at 35 mph. I was breathing fast, feeling achy but very much alive . Still, no sweat. So I plugged in my Wii fit, found out I was lighter but older and did 20 minutes on that . Love the hula hoop and the strength training things, but do not think I will ever in my life be able to do the push up and plank thing . After that 15 minutes with the stability ball and resistance bands. It is really a lot of fun sitting on this hoppity hop and playing with rubber band things ! Then I started packing up the bands and putting the Wii board in a new home and I noticed something odd. What's that smell? Could it be ...yes ! Indeed it was ! We have at long last acchived armpit sweat !!! Huzzah !!! That small detail is a vast improvement in my condition, and I was extremely happy ! I then jumped in the shower, thrilled to actually need one because of exercies.

When the guys got back we started working with My Fitness Coach and decided his one is definately not for us. Too much stomping, which is a very bad thing living in a 3rd floor apartment. It also is very aerobics dance oriented, which I cannot do because of a knee injury, and there is not enough room in here to do the work out. So I think we will stick to Jillians game, the Wii fit, the bike, the ball and the handwights as well as walking for our efforts.
Dinner last night was another couscous as pasta meal. Chicken mozzarella garlic sausage in jarred sauce with about a pound of fresh mushrooms that needed to be used up. Salad on the side and diet soda- it made for a really tasty and filling low point on program meal. It seems we like couscous so much we may never have pasta with marinara sauce again.

I am pumped ! For me it has never been a case of not working hard enough but of Adrenal stress. Starting to begin to sweat means that my endocrine system is finally coming into balance and I will be able to see my weight loss progress a little faster. Sadly, it also means that I have to deal with the possibility of becoming pregnant, so it can be a mixed sort of blessing. Midnight feedings in your 50's is not a desired thing !

Way to go on the sweating! I know how difficult this can be for you. You must have been stoked! :o)

I feel the same way about couscous. I never thought it was something that I would eat and now I absolutely love it. I eat it in the place of rice and pasta. In fact, I ate it with gumbo yesterday. Yum-o!

We have had couscous in the past, but mainly as a cold salad thing- vdggies, italian dressing and some meat kind of thing. It tasted good, was such a quick cook thing by=ut yet I never really thought much about it as a dinner side or so on. I have read about others making it for breakfast as well, and one day I will try it. I have even heard of people using steel cut oats in chili- I feel like there are a million meal possibilities I have missed !
